Pineapple Crush

Wednesday, 23 April 2014

Thinking of summer with all the bright colours popping up everywhere I look. I cant help but notice the pineapple and tropical trends that seem to be taking over in the interior world. I'm a huge fan of fruit inspired prints, décor and colour schemes, they always but a smile on my face (and instantly want a pina colada, like you do) I think using tropical prints and exotic home décor is a great way to turn your garden, summer house and conservatory into your own tropical paradise for the summer and would set the scene for dinner parties and gatherings. I've put together a mood board of what I think is the best of the pineapple bunch, let me know if you are crushing on this trend...

Studio Daze

Wednesday, 16 April 2014

It's been a long time since I've wrote a post and I'm so sorry, I've been working like a crazy women over the past month, plus been on a trip to Copenhagen which was one of the best cities I've ever been to ( ill dish all the deets later ) but today I want to share my love and shall I say a big goal of mine to own my own studio.

As I have been working a lot lately its had me thinking about workspaces and how important it is to feel happy where your working, (I've basically spent a month painting in a cow barn, which was freezing and full of cobwebs, yep nice I know) your workspace should lift you when you're struggling for answers, to look up at your walls and feel inspired. Do you look forward to working in your office/workspace? Or could you make it more inviting. There seem to be so many inspiring beautiful studios out there that I like and could picture myself working quite happy in, here are just a few, let me know which one is your favourite?

Through the Looking-glass

Tuesday, 25 February 2014

I'm a huge fan of open spaces, light and the feeling of creating rooms with furniture rather than brick walls, are you ? but sometimes open living can make your space look a little lost or maybe you feel that you would like some kind of wall division but you want to still hold that light airy feel, you may just love these glass wall panels that I have been adoring over at Pinterest, giving you that perfect open planed feel, they look great in old buildings with lots of character for that mind blowing contrast 'of something old next to something new' look, to me that's always a win win situation and of course they look fab in contemporary minimal interiors too.

I wish I could have a glass wall like these ones; it gives a dramatic effect in such a simple way. I'm totally in love right now!

Weather you love country chic or rustic industrial interiors there is something for everyone and you can see that these super cool glass panels fit into to pretty much any surrounding which makes me love them a little more, how do you feel about the glass wall ?

We also have introduced some women's wear to the shop, we couldn't resist these pretty vintage blouses, could you?

Elegant oyster white and French grey tea set, grey Monday tablecloth, ivory Selfridge blouse, pale tinted goblet glasses, smoked scalloped blouse, glass jelly mould, petite femme perfume bottle and champagne rose embroidered trinket.

Upholstery Trend :: Back to basics.

Wednesday, 29 January 2014

Spotting trends; looking through magazines, pictures on Pinterest and a few beautiful inspiring interior design books that I got for Christmas I've noticed the " deconstructed chair" popping up quite a lot lately its caught my eye every time and I love things that look old, handmade and have that vintage charm. This trend is going back to basics, keeping traditional method's of upholstery alive and bringing it in to our modern world once again.

I've just been given a beautiful French armchair and I think my next move is to try this look. Upholstering the armchair in a traditional method with hessian and tacks and then leaving it exposed so you can enjoy the craftsmanship not only of the wooden frame but the upholstery technique, and it looks just perfect mixed with modern interiors, having the mix of old and new or kept in a more vintage inspired surrounding.

Here I've gathered a few images of some rather beautiful deconstructed chairs from Pinterest, Ralph Lauren Home and Interior Stylist Nina Hartmann.

Some chairs may be slightly fragile and unpractical for living with and more suited for photo shoots but there are some that look newly upholstered in a traditional method and sturdy, if they are upholstered well they will last a life time.

Do you dare to bare your chairs inner beauty ?

Artist And Flea Markets :: Brooklyn

Sunday, 26 January 2014

Last November I went to NYC to do a little Christmas shopping and on the Sunday I thought it would be a nice idea to head over to Brooklyn and wonder through the vintage boutiques, you know have a lazy Sunday kinda day. I did manage to find the Brooklyn vintage flea market, soon as I entered the old building I just wanted to buy EVERYTHING I can't tell you how much I adore American vintage clothing I think they hold the best, all the corners was cramped with old lace dresses and tan leather brogues lined up on the floor, stools filled with handmade jewellery designed by young up and coming designers and then I found 'Love Hue Studios' a designer Devin Kain who turns vintage books into clocks, this really was one of my all time fav's, such a good idea and they look beautiful.

I admire artist that reuse vintage stuff and turn it into beautiful quirky things that we seem to find ourselves taken by. When I see artist/designers come together at flea markets and craft show's it inspires me to keep going and not give up on something you love, and that's why I feel that its important for us to help support small business's and up and coming designers/artist.

Love Hue Studios can also custom make you a vintage book clock so if you have a all time favourite you can send them your book and they can customise you a clock. I kinda love this idea think its a tiny bit genius.

Upholstery Update :: Champagne And Gold

Wednesday, 11 December 2013

When I first picked up this armchair from my client I already new it was going to be beautiful as the shape of the frame is so elegant and when she asked if I would paint the chair in a shimming cream with flecks of gold, I couldn't stop smiling at the thought of painting with gold and couldn't wait to get stuck into this one!

This was my first ever armchair, probably the biggest challenge so far, learning to make the cushion seat was probably one of the hardest things I have had to face in upholstery as sewing machines aren't exactly my best friends and having spent 10 hours in total, by the time this baby was done I did start to get the hang of things, but only just...
